The Sophisticted Lady is a two piece suit and knitted Shell that has all the sleek styling of the Thirties and Forties. The simulated shoulder yoke and peplum of the hip-length jacket are created by the use of a slashing and gathering technique that controls fullness and fit. This technique first became popular in the late thirties and was used extensively in the fabric shortage years of the forties. The unlined jacket has slightly padded shoulders and long, fitted sleeves. It's paired with an absolutely straight skirt that has classic hip darts for shaping and a center back kick pleat for ease of movement. The knitted Shell has a round neck and cap sleeves in a basketweave stitch. It can be worn under the jacket or just with the skirt for a more casual look.

Suggested Fabrics: Jacket and Skirt, Light to medium suiting fabrics - wool, silk, linen, synthetics or blends. Shell, 100% silk yarn.
