This pattern is multi-sized 8 through 26.

The Two Strapped, High-Waisted Upper Petticoats pattern was created from an original in the Susan Greene Costume Collection in the Genesee Country Village and Museum in Mumford, NY. There were sufficient clues to determine that the original early nineteenth century petticoat had been refashioned by letting out the tuck and creating gores to make it fuller for the 1820s.

All classes of society, on both sides of the Atlantic, could have worn strapped upper petticoats.

Upper petticoats with straps were made of cotton - printed and woven such as nankeen, and wale dimity; linen - striped and solid; wool - flannel and linsey-woolsey; and silks.

Fabric Requirements for a lady who measures 43" from under the bust to the ankle:
Sizes 8-14 of original fabric width of 26" -5 3/4 Yds.; Sizes 16-20 of 32" or 36"
- 5 3/4 Yds.; Sizes 22-26 of 45" - 6-1/8 Yds. Add or subtract 4" to fabric required for every inch taller or shorter than the 43".
