Details

The Cyclas – based on extant examples and pictorial referrences – is the antecedent of the sleeveless surcote. Worn during the first half of the 13th Century by men and women, it was often accompanied by a floor length cloak draped in different ways. The typical headpiece for women was the Barbette and Fillet which could be covered by a veil or worn plain. The package contains two versions of the Cyclas, one for women and one for men. Also included are notes on period sewing techniques and instructions for making the cloak and a Barbette with Fillet. Ideally combined with a Tunic/Cotte (NPE603) worn benath the Cyclas.
