Worn over loose trousers, a matching jacket or rove of silk or satin completed the traditional costume. The skirt construction, which has changed little through the centuries, consists of two identical sections fastened together at the waist with knotted frogs. Narrow pleats over the hips fall from a lowered waistband. Lined over-panels are wrapped over narrower under-panels in both front and back. Decorative facing piped with narrow bias tape finish the sides and hem of the over-panels. The skirt is cut low-calf length; a narrow or wide traditional waistband may be used. Pattern includes Costume Lore and Authentic Detailing Instructions.

Suggested fabrics: Silk or silk-like synthetics, chintz, polished cotton, medium and lightweight cotton, or lightweight wool.
