This pattern package contains patterns for four different versions of Tunic and Cotte, based on extant exmples and written sources and suitable for men and women of all social classes from 900-1300. As a garment for the lower working classes the Cotte continues to be in use well into the early 15th century. Usually it is worn belted over a plin linen shift, which can actually be cut from the same pattern. A lady's Tunic\/Cotte should be floor length, covering the ankles. Three sleeve variations are included. Also included are notes on period sewing techniques and instructions to alter the pattern for smaller and larger sizes. He created numerous famous portraits, thus creating an insight into early 16th century fashion. The Cranach dress originates from Germany and no extant examples survived, which is why this pattern does not claim authenticity, but is based on pictorial evidence! This pattern helps you to create a gown in the style of the famous Cranach portraits. View A (left) is based on paintings like the portrait of Duchess Catherine of Mecklenburg (1514), \"Judith with the head of Holofernes and two female companions\" (1525) or \"Portrait of a young woman\" (1530). It features a front closure with stomacher, attached on one side, decorative facings\/collars, slashed sleeves and a deep u-back. View B (right) is inspired by dresses as seen in \"Portrait of Christiane of Eulenau\" (1534) and \"Judith with the head of Holofernes\" (1530).
